BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's volleyball team got back in the win column this evening as they defeated the University of Rochester Yellowjackets this evening to open the annual Bengal Challenge in the Sports Arena.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Ella Wittman (Cheektowaga, NY/Springville-Griffith) led the Bengals with 18 kills and a .310 hitting percentage. Anel Acosta (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) chipped in a 15-kill showing.
- Alex Arroyo (Nesconset, NY/Smithtown East) dished out 37 assists while Dani Dury (Amherst, OH/Marion L. Steele) led the team with 15 digs..
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a highly-contested opening set, the Yellowjackets ended things with a 10-3 run, including a each of the final three points to win the set.
- The Bengals bounced-back with a 9-1 start in the second set which also featured a 5-0 start. Despite a late 8-1 rally from Rochester, Buffalo State was able to secure the final two points thanks to a service error from the Yellowjackets and a kill from Wittman.
- The third set featured much of the same back-and-forth action. After Rochester held a narrow 20-19 lead, the Bengals were able to score each of the final six points to win the set.
- In the fourth and final set, both sides continued to be competitive. The Bengals were able to rally late with a 6-2 run to secure the final win.
FOR THE FOES
- Myla Nover-Estes led the Yellowjackets with 26 kills with Lyida Weeks leading the team with 16 digs.
- Iliana Balaskas had 29 assists in the effort.
