HOUGHTON, NY – The Buffalo State women's soccer team defeated the Houghton University Highlanders, 1-0, picking up their first road win of the season and snapping a six-game losing streak.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Facing a six-game losing streak after a heartbreaking shootout loss to the Lycoming College Warriors, the Bengals looked to get back in the win column as they faced off with the Houghton University Highlanders on the road.
- Opening the first half, the Bengals leaned on their defense early as the Highlanders found some strong chances on net. This would continue to be the story of the half as the Bengals battled to keep the Highlanders off the scoreboard, succeeding as both teams entered halftime tied at 0-0.
- Exiting the halftime break, the Bengals would strike gold, finding the back of the net in the 50th minute to take the lead over the Highlanders. The goal would lead the Highlanders to continue their attack on the Bengals' defense; however, the Bengals would once again hold their ground, shutting out the Highlanders and picking up their first road win of the season.
FOR THE FOES
- Taylor Curyto, Elena Esh and Karryne Mims each finished with two shots on goal for the Highlanders.
- Olivia Short made three saves in net for the Highlanders.
