GETTYSBURG, PA – The Buffalo State women's volleyball team split the final day of the 'Gettysburg Invite', falling to host Gettysburg College, 3-0, before finishing the day strong with a 3-1 win over Marymount University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bengals returned to action in the 'Gettysburg Invite' after a hard-fought battle with Messiah University last night, where they fell short in a five-game set. In their first matchup of the day, the Bengals looked to rebound against the host Gettysburg College Bullets and finish their weekend in winning fashion.
- Opening the first set, the Bengals had their work cut out for them, as the Bullets used a wave of multipoint runs to take an early advantage. As the set continued, the Bengals fought hard to mount a comeback, rallying for four straight points, but the Bullets would hold on and take the first-set win.
- The second set would repeat the same theme, with the Bengals storming out in front of the Bullets before trailing behind a fury of multi-point runs from the Bullets. However, the Bengals would find themselves with a mid-set lead, capitalizing on mistakes by the Bullets and firing on all cylinders on offense. But the Bullets would use a seven-point rally to retake the lead and take the set from the Bengals, with the three-set sweep on the brink for the Bengals.
- In the third and final set, the Bengals were unable to keep up with the Bullets, falling behind throughout and coming up short in this nonconference matchup.
FOR THE FOES
- Erin Gonzalez and Clare Farrell led the Bullets with nine kills each, with Halle Feth leading all players with 18 assists.
- Defensively, Nala Shearer led the Bullets with 18 digs.

- Ella Wittman (Cheektowaga, NY/Springville-Griffith) led all players with 20 kills, with Acosta finishing with 12 kills in support.
- Jakubowski had the hot hand in the playmaking department, leading all players as well with 24 assists.
- Defensively, Kate Rutigliano (Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) led the Bengals with three total blocks at the net, while Kulniszewski led all players with 15 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Looking to rebound after battling host Gettysburg College, the Bengals entered this matchup with the Marymount University Saints.
- In the first set, both sides would trade points throughout, with the Saints gaining an early edge after back-to-back multi-point rallies. This would prove to be the driving force in the set, with the Bengals' last-minute effort falling just short and the Saints taking the first set win.
- However, the tide would change in the second set, as the Bengals would storm out of the gate with their most dominant performance of the invite, with a four-point run and an eight-straight-point run to take a commanding set lead over the Saints. While the Saints attempted to claw back into the set, the Bengals' strong offense proved too much, closing out the second set with the win.
- The story would remain the same in the third set, with the Bengals finding their rhythm in this bout. Back-to-back six-point runs would provide the Bengals with the cushion to withstand another late run by the Saints and close out the third set with another win.
- In the fourth set, both sides would return to trading points throughout the set. A six-straight-point rally would bring the set even, before the Saints would steal the lead with a three-point rally. However, the Bengals would grind out play, taking advantage of Saints mistakes to retake the lead and close out this contest on a three-straight-point run, taking down the Saints in the final game of the 'Gettysburg Invite.'
FOR THE FOES
- Eliana Knaub led the Saints with nine kills, with Emerson Aber finishing with 23 assists.
- Defensively, Renae Rohrer led the Saints with 18 digs.
