Introduction
The athletic training staff at Buffalo State is here to provide the professional care, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for our student-athletes. Our job is to eliminate those elements that tend to slow down the healing process and enhance those elements that will lead to a return to action. Care and prevention of injuries is the prime concern of the athletic training staff. Several teams are served through our facilities, therefore, the following guidelines are provided for the student-athlete and coach in order to provide efficient care and treatment:
1. The training room will be open Monday thru Friday starting at 10 a.m.
2. A member of the athletic training staff will be available at all home contests. In case of emergency, if an athletic trainer is not available, University Police should be called at 878-6333.
3. Appropriate care will be provided for athletes in all sports. In season teams will be given priority over out of season teams.
4. Athletic trainers will be available one hour before practice and one and a half hours before games. Â
Athletic trainers will be available for an average of 30 minutes after practice or games.
5. Medical coverage for away contests in all sports except football and hockey (our collision sports) will be furnished by the institution hosting the event. All home institutions will provide training coverage for Buffalo State teams on the road without an athletic trainer. Â
6. Every student-athlete must have taken and passed a sports physical administered by Weigel Health Center and on file at the Training Office and along with a completed Medical History Form before they are allowed to practice.Â
