Mission Statement:
The mission of the Buffalo State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is to enhance the total experience of the student-athlete by promoting opportunity, protecting the welfare of the student-athlete, and eliciting a positive image for the entire athletic department to the campus and community. We are dedicated to the advancement of the student-athlete in academics and athletics.
Purpose of SAAC is to:
1. Represent and be the voice of student-athletes at BSC.
2. Promote and foster efficient communication with the athletics department, administration, coaching staff, student-athletes and campus personnel.
3. To encourage involvement in all programs within the athletic department and campus.
The SAAC will strive to serve these important functions:
· Address important concerns within the Athletic Dept.
· Address the student-athlete’s needs.
· Enhance the well-being and personal development of the student-athlete through workshops, seminars and lectures.
· Promote community involvement.
· Support fellow athletes during competition.
Membership:
The membership shall be comprised of two representatives of each of the varsity sports recognized by the athletic department. Both representatives will be required to attend each meeting. If a student-athlete cannot attend a meeting, he/she must find a replacement that will attend. All representatives have the right to vote on issues. Each representative will serve as a liaison between SAAC and his/her respective team.
Student Athletes can join SAAC by attending the first information meeting of the school year. At this meeting they will be told how to apply using an application that the executive board and staff have created. After all applications have been submitted, the executive board will pick two representatives from each team with the best resumes that show passion and drive for the organization.
All members must be student-athletes. No more than TWO unexcused absences from meetings (Excused absences are competition, practice, illness, death in family, or meeting with a coach). Must report all information from meetings to respective teams.
Meetings:
There will be regularly scheduled monthly meetings. Additional meetings will be scheduled on a need-to-meet basis. Coaches will be informed of the scheduled meetings at the beginning of each semester.
