Neil Herman

Herman joined the Bengals' staff in 2010 to work with the tight ends and kickers, one season after serving as an offensive and video intern with Division I University at Buffalo under former coach Turner Gill. 

He was promoted to special teams coordinator in 2013 and under his direction, the Bengals' kicking and coverage units have been consistently ranked near or at the top of the Empire 8.  He has mentored 11 All-Empire 8 players and two Western New York Scholar-Athlete Award winners.  

Herman is the main recruiter for New York State Section 4 (Elmira-Binghamton) and Section 11 (Suffolk County/Long Island).

In 2014, he was selected to attend the NFL-NCAA Coaches Academy and was a special teams presenter at the 2017 AFCA Convention.

Prior to his experience at UB, Herman worked as an assistant coach for two seasons at St. Francis High School and was the special teams coordinator with the junior varsity program. 

He also worked for two years as the travel coordinator for the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League.

Herman is a member of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and the New York State High School Football Coaches' Association.

A graduate of Niagara University with a bachelor's degree in commerce, the West Seneca native has a daughter (Avery) and currently resides in South Buffalo.Â
