Jordan Rodriguez was officially elevated to head track and field and cross country coach at Buffalo State in August 2026 after serving in an interim capacity for the past two years. Rodriguez had been an assistant coach with the Bengals since the 2022-23 season. In his time at Buffalo State, Rodriguez has guided five SUNYAC Champions, three All-Americans, two SUNYAC Track & Field Athletes of the Year, and one SUNYAC Rookie of the Year in both track & field and cross country.
The 2025-26 season featured a strong showing during both cross country and track and field seasons. During the 2025 cross country season, the men climbed from a sixth place finish in 2024 to a fourth place finish in 2025. During the 2025-26 track & field season, the men finish third overall at SUNYAC Outdoor Championships while the women climbed up the team rankings with a fifth place finish.
Rodriguez came to Buffalo State from Division II Cal State, East Bay, where he served as part of the coaching staff for two years. During his second year at East Bay, he was elevated to acting head coach of the cross country and track and field teams. He guided the women's cross-country team to a ranking of as high as 29th-nationally, as well as a third-place finish in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships.
He previously coached an assistant coach at Division I Niagara University and also coached both cross country and track and field at Ida S. Baker High School in Cape Coral, FL before transitioning to coaching at the collegiate level.
A native of Miami, FL, he earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science from the University of South Florida in 2016. Rodriguez also holds United States of America Track & Field (USATF) Level 2 Certifications in Jumps, Sprints/Hurdles/Relays, and Endurance.
