Max joined the Bengals' coaching staff in 2009-10 with over 30 year of coaching experience at Pioneer Central School.  In 18 seasons as the girls varsity coach, he amassed a record of 246-91 and was honored with numerous coach of the year honors.  Payne also coached golf at Pioneer for over 20 years.  A native of Arcade, NY, he earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Tampa and completed his master's at St. Bonaventure.  He and his late wife Janet have a son Brennan.
