Buffalo State has announced that Bean Minerd has been elevated to the interim women's lacrosse coach for the upcoming 2026 season. Minerd served last year as an assistant coach with the Bengals that featured one of their most successful seasons in program history.
Minerd joined the Bengals after previously serving six seasons as the assistant women's lacrosse coach at her alma-mater LaFayette High School. In 2013, she was a recipient for the US Lacrosse Native American Tewaaraton Scholarship, and she was named to the First-Team All-League in high school.
Prior to her coaching career, Minerd was a standout defender at SUNY Brockport where she started in 72 games collecting three goals, two assists, 87 ground balls, 70 caused turnovers, and 60 draw controls over her career. Minerd was named the 2017 SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year while also earning First Team All-SUNYAC honors and a spot on the SUNYAC All-Tournament Team. She also made the 2017 IWLCA All-Region Team and earned a spot on the ECAC DIII North Women’s Lacrosse All-Star Team and the IWLCA Senior All-Star Team. Her senior campaign featured 38 draw controls, 31 caused turnovers, 27 ground balls, three goals and an assist as the Golden Eagles reached the Third Round of the NCAA Tournament.
Minerd is currently a member of the Haudenosaunee Women’s National Team where she has been an active player since 2011. The team will travel to Tokyo in 2026 for the FIL World Cup Games after recently earning bronze in the Pan-American Lacrosse Association Tournament. She was named to the PALA All-Tournament Team, received All-Tournament Defensive honors, and was recognized with the Heart & Spirit of Lacrosse Award.
The Haudenosaunee National Team will await the decision of the International Olympic Committee if they are allowed to compete under the Haudenosaunee flag for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, where Minerd will continue to compete.
