Brian Knapp

Brian Knapp joins the Bengals' staff as an assistant in 2013 after working with the University at Buffalo men's soccer program in 2012.

A former midfielder at UB from 2003-06, he helped lead a turnaround that saw the team go from winning one game in 2003 to a program-record 14 in 2005 while also breaking into the National Top 25 at No. 19. Knapp is eighth on the program's career assist record list with 14 for his career and was named All-MAC in 2006.

While at UB, Brian also won two gold medals playing at the Empire State games for the Western team. After finishing his playing career at UB, Knapp went on to play professionally with futsal, an indoor soccer variant that is played on a smaller field and uses only five players per side at a time. Knapp played professionally for four years in the FK-League in Korea with the Yes Gumi Futsal Club and for Gyeongsan Five Star Futsal Club. After leading his team in both goals and assists, he was brought on to the United States Futsal National Team as a reserve.

A native of Liverpool, NY, he earned his bachelor's degree in history from UB in 2007. He has previous coaching experience as an assistant at Genesee Community College and with the Ha Tae Yo Youth Football Club in South Korea. Knapp also coaches with Soccer for Success in Buffalo, and holds his D level coaching license from the Asian Football Confederation and Korean Football Association.
