POTSDAM, NY—Buffalo State (2-3/1-0) netted four power-play goals en route to a 6-3 victory at Potsdam (0-2-1/0-1) in the SUNYAC opener tonight at Maxcy Hall.

The Bears opened the scoring, but Buffalo State pulled even at 1-1 by the first intermission and then scored the first three goals of the second period. Kerry Barchan (Oakville, ON/Queen Elizabeth Park) scored twice to lead the Bengals, and Joe Curry (Indian River, ON/Norwood District) had a goal and two assists. Jason Hill (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) had a goal and an assist, and Kevin Kozlowski (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) and Jim Durham (Marilla, NY/St. Francis) also scored.

Tyler Soehner (Baden, ON/Waterloo Oxford) and Nick Petriello (St. Catharines, ON/Holy Cross) each had two assists. Alan Fritch (Saginaw, MI/Heritage) made 26 saves for the win in his first collegiate start.  The Bengals were 4 of 8 with the man-advantage.

Buffalo State will wrap up the “North Country” trip tomorrow night at nationally-ranked No. 2 Plattsburgh at 7 p.m.
