PLATTSBURGH, NY—Buffalo State (2-4/1-1) gave the No. 2 ranked team in the nation Plattsburgh (3-0/2-0) all it could handle before falling 4-2 tonight at Stafford Arena.

The Cardinals opened the scoring early in the first period, but the Bengals had an answer later in the frame when Jim Durham (Marilla, NY/St. Francis) scored his second goal in as many nights. Plattsburgh jumped in front again midway through the second period, but Nicholas Petriello (St. Catharines, ON/Holy Cross) evened the score at 2-2 just 24 seconds later.

Plattsburgh pulled ahead for good with its second power play goal of the game late in the second period, however, and added an empty net goal to put the game out of reach.

The Cardinals held a 44-28 advantage in shots. Zach Grasley (Ancaster, ON/St. Mary's) made 40 saves for the Bengals.

Buffalo State will next host Cortland on Friday 7 p.m.
