BUFFALO, NY—Nicholas Petriello (St. Catharines, ON/Holy Cross) scored three goals, but Buffalo State (3-5-1/2-2-1) squandered a 6-3 lead to tie visiting Fredonia (3-4-2/1-3-1), 6-6, in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Ice Arena.

Cory Park (Mississauga, ON/St. Joseph) added a pair of goals for the Bengals. Joel Sheppard (Pefferlaw, ON/Sutton District) had a goal and an assist, and Ryan Ramage (Ft. Erie, ON/Ft. Erie) added three assists. Kerry Barchan (Oakville, ON/Queen Elizabeth Park) picked up a pair of assists.

Jeff Aonso (Toronto, ON) led Fredonia with two goals and two assists. James Muscatello (Baldwinsville, NY) had two goals and an assist, and Ian Evans (Clinton, NY) and Jordan Oye (Richmond, BC) also scored.

Pat Street (Annapolis, MD) stopped Buffalo State's Jim Durham (Marilla, NY/St. Francis) on a penalty shot with just 28 seconds remaining in regulation to preserve the tie, after a Fredonia player closed his hand on the puck in the crease during a scramble.

Fredonia jumped out to a 2-0 lead midway through the opening period, but Buffalo State evened the score at 2-2 by the first intermission. Both teams scored on their first shots of the second period, with Fredonia scoring eight seconds in, and the Bengals tying the score just 18 seconds later. Buffalo State pushed the lead to 6-3, but the Blue Devils rallied with a goal late in the second and two more in the third period.

Fredonia held a 39-31 advantage in shots. Kody Van Rentergem (Leduc, AB) allowed four goals on 12 shots before Street relieved him 7:47 into the second period. Street finished with 17 saves. Zach Grasley (Ancaster, ON/St. Mary's) had 33 saves for Buffalo State.

The Bengals will host Morrisville State next Saturday at 7 p.m.
