BUFFALO, NY—Joel Sheppard (Pefferlaw, ON/Sutton District) scored three goals and had an assist to lead Buffalo State (3-4/2-1) to a decisive 10-3 victory over visiting Cortland (2-4/0-2) in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Ice Arena.

Cortland struck first just under two minutes into the game, but Buffalo State took control from there. The Bengals special teams accounted for seven of their 10 goals with four on the power play and three coming while shorthanded.

Jason Hill (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) and Shareef Labreche (Markham, ON/Markham District) each had a goal and three assists for the Bengals. Jim Durham (Marilla, NY/St. Francis) scored twice. Kevin Kozlowski (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) had a goal and an assist, Connor King (Brentwood, TN/Brentwood) and Will Lacasse (St. Pie, PQ/College Antoine-Girourard) also scored, and Nicholas Petriello (St. Catharanes, ON/Holy Cross) added four assists.

Mike Egan (Smithtown, NY) and Justin Porpora (Hauppauge, NY) netted power-play goals for the Red Dragons, and Mike Maier (Rochester, NY) scored on a penalty shot.

Buffalo State outshot Cortland, 39-22. The Bengals were 4 for 14 on the power play, and Cortland was 2 for 8.

Buffalo State will host Oswego tomorrow at 7 p.m.
