BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (13-7/5-3) rallied in the opener against visiting Oswego (9-8/5-3), but still lost, and then cruised to victory in the late game to split a SUNYAC doubleheader today. Oswego needed 10 innings and more than two hours and 40 minutes in the first game to win 8-6, before the Bengals posted a 9-3 win in the second contest.

Buffalo State rallied from a 6-2 deficit in the sixth to force extra innings, before Oswego pulled out the win with two runs in the 10th. Christina Tschari (Clarence/ Clarence) was 2 for 4 with three RBIs and two homeruns, including a two-run blast in the seventh to even the score. Arielle Austin (Smithtown/ Smithtown West) had a double and two RBIs, and Nicole Maher (Waterloo/ Waterloo) was 2 for 5. Jenna Frieling (E. Amherst/ Williamsville North) threw six innings, allowing 10 hits and six runs, including four earned. Aimee Fisher (Hamburg/ Frontier) suffered the loss, allowing two hits and one earned run in four innings of relief.

Buffalo State fell behind again, 2-0 in the second inning of the second game, but quickly erased the deficit, scoring nine runs in the next four innings. Jordan Banach (Cheektowaga/ Maryvale) and Marissa Mariano (Williamsville/ Mt. St. Mary) each homered, and Jolene Banach (Cheektowaga/ Maryvale) and Courtney Keleher (Tonawanda/ Kenmore West) had two hits each. Tschari and Jessica Mooney (Tonawanda/ Kenmore West) each had a double and an RBI. Fisher earned the win, with six strikeouts in a complete-game three-hitter.

Buffalo State host Fredonia on Tuesday for another SUNYAC twin bill.
