Women’s Basketball Clips Cardinals, 55-51

BUFFALO, NY—Jessica Clark (Fulton/G. Ray Bodley) matched her season-high with 14 points and had four assists to lead Buffalo State (2-10/1-3) to its first SUNYAC win of the season, 55-51, over visiting Plattsburgh (5-7/2-2) today at the Sports Arena.

Shareese Hamer (Erie, PA/Strong Vincent) contributed 13 points, and Dee Layne (Brooklyn/East NY Family Academy) grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds. Barb Kiliszek (Depew/Lancaster) added eight points and five steals, including one on a critical possession in the closing seconds.

Vanessa Arthurton (Troy/Troy) paced the Cardinals with 18 points, 10 rebounds and six steals, and Erin Silberberg (Staten Island/St. Peter's) had 16 points and four assists.

Both teams enjoyed small leads in the opening half, but the score was knotted at 26-26 after the opening 20 minutes. Buffalo State broke the eighth tie of the game, taking a 51-49 lead with 3:44 remaining and did not relinquish the advantage. The Bengals scored their final four points from the free throw line.

Buffalo State will visit Cortland on Tuesday for another league game at 6 p.m.
