BUFFALO, NY—Potsdam (9-1/3-0) scored the final three points of the game at the free throw line in the closing seconds to squeak out a 58-55 win over host Buffalo State (1-10/0-3) in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Sports Arena.

Courtney Poirer (Moira/Brushton-Moira) led the Bears with a game-high 17 points, and Maureen Curley (Madrid/Madrid-Waddington) added 16 points and seven rebounds. Molly Krauza (Fredonia/Fredonia) netted eight points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Shareese Hamer (Erie, PA/Strong Vincent) paced the Bengals with 14 points and nine boards. Jessica Clark (Fulton/G. Ray Bodley) chipped in 11 points, and Barb Kiliszek (Depew/Lancaster) had 10 points and six steals.

Buffalo State jumped out to a 24-15 advantage, but the Bears used a 10-0 run late in the first half to take a 29-27 advantage into the intermission. Potsdam opened its lead to as many as eight in the second half, but the Bengals battled back and led 46-45 with less than five minutes remaining. Potsdam broke the tie hitting one of two free throws with 23 second remaining, and added two more with three seconds to play.

Buffalo State will host Plattsburgh in another SUNYAC contest tomorrow at 2 p.m.
