BUFFALO, NY—Geneseo (12-11-1/7-7-1) netted five first-period goals en route to a 6-3 victory over host Buffalo State (9-11-4/4-7-4) in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Ice Arena.

Joel Sheppard (Pefferlaw, ON/Sutton District) netted two goals and an assist to lead Buffalo State. Jason Hill (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) had a goal and an assist, and Nicholas Petriello (St. Catharines, ON/Holy Cross) had three assists.

Geneseo opened the scoring 12:18 into the game and then extended its lead to 5-0 before the first period came to a close. Sheppard got the Bengals on the board with a pair of goals in the opening 1:25 of the second period, but the Knights weathered the storm and added another goal in the closing minute. Buffalo State added a goal in the third, but could not pull any closer. The Bengals held a slight edge in shots, 31-30.

Buffalo State will host Brockport in the regular season finale tomorrow at 7 p.m.
