ROCHESTER, NY—Buffalo State (3-1) featured a balanced attack with three players picking up six points each as the Bengals' won their third game in a row, defeating host RIT (3-1), 16-11, today in a non-conference meeting.
Katie Henderson (Hamburg/Frontier) and
Kendyl Clarkson (Painted Post/Corning West) each had five goals and an assist, and
Karen Shaddock (Corning/Corning East) had two goals and four assists to pace the Bengals.
Liz Eddy (Albany/Colonie) scored twice,
Molly Seifritz (Liverpool/Henninger) had a goal and an assist, and Jennifer Tierney (Massapequa/Massapequa) also scored.
RIT outshot Buffalo State, 41-32, but Ashley O'Brien (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima) made 21 saves to backstop the Bengals to the win.
RIT rallied from a four-goal deficit to tie the game at 10-10 with just over 10 minutes remaining in the second half, but Buffalo State scored six of the game's final seven goals to pull away for the victory.
Buffalo State will next play against Ithaca at Cornell University on Thursday.
