BUFFALO, NY-- Jenna Frieling (E. Amherst/Williamsville North) threw a no-hitter in the opening game as Buffalo State (8-4/2-0) swept visiting Morrisville State (4-14/0-4), 6-0 and 5-1, in the SUNYAC openers today at Bengal Field.

Frieling paced the Bengals on the mound and at the plate in the opener, tossing a complete game no-hitter with six strikeouts and just one walk. She also went 2 for 3 with a triple, a double and an RBI. Nicole Sabuda (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) was also 2 for 3 with a triple. Nicole Maher (Waterloo/Waterloo) and Julie Joyce (E. Pembroke/Pembroke) both tripled for the Bengals, and Aimee Fisher (Hamburg/Frontier) had a double and an RBI.

In the second game, Buffalo State scored five runs in the first three innings and coasted to the four-run victory. Maher was 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Fisher was 2 for 4 with an RBI and recorded the win on the mound, throwing five innings, allowing six hits and one unearned run. Kyrstin Lekki (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield) was 1 for 2 with a triple and an RBI.

Buffalo State is slated to host Geneseo on Tuesday in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
