BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (19-9/10-4) came from behind twice to complete a two-game sweep of visiting Potsdam (10-14/3-9), winning 7-5 and 3-2, in a SUNYAC doubleheader today at Bengal Field.
Buffalo State overcame a 5-1 deficit in the first game, scoring five runs in the fourth and adding another in the fifth inning.
Nicole Maher (Waterloo/Waterloo) led the Bengals, going 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI.
Nicole Sabuda (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, and pitched the win, allowing six hits and just one earned run with eight strikeouts.
Kaylee Lekki (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield) added a solo-homerun for the Bengals.
The Bengals were forced to battle back again in the nightcap, trailing 2-1 after three innings, but plated a run in the fourth and another in the fifth inning to prevail, 3-2.
Marissa Mariano (Williamsville/Mt. St. Mary) and
Kyrstin Lekki (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield) each went 2 for 3 with solo-homeruns.
Becky Shank (Williamsville/Williamsville East) and
Jolene Banach (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) were both 2 for 3 with a double. Maher also went 2 for 3.
Jenna Frieling (E. Amherst/Williamsville North) registered the win, scattering seven hits with six strikeouts.
Buffalo State will host Plattsburgh in another SUNYAC doubleheader tomorrow at 1 p.m.
