BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (21-9/12-4) clinched a berth in the SUNYAC playoffs and reached the 20-win plateau for the seventh-consecutive year and 16th time overall, sweeping visiting Plattsburgh (16-18/9-5), 6-3 and 4-3, in a doubleheader today at Bengal Field.

Buffalo State overcame five errors and a 2-1 deficit in the first game, to rally for the three-run victory, riding the hot bat of Kyrstin Lekki (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield) who went 3 for 3 with a homerun and five RBIs. Jolene Banach (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) was 2 for 2 with two runs scored, and Julie Joyce (E. Pembroke/Pembroke) was 2 for 4 with a run. Marissa Mariano (Williamsville/Mt. St. Mary) added a solo-homer, her sixth of the season. Nicole Sabuda (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) tossed the win, allowing seven hits and two earned runs.

The Bengals rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the late game and won on a walk-off RBI single by Banach in the bottom of the seventh. The Bengals made the most of just four hits, capitalizing on four Plattsburgh errors to plate four runs. Buffalo State also committed four errors in the field. Banach finished the game 2 for 2 with two RBIs. Nicole Maher (Waterloo/Waterloo) had the other two hits for the Bengals and had an RBI and scored the winning run. Jenna Frieling (E. Amherst/Williamsville North) pitched the win, allowing six hits and one earned run with nine strikeouts.

Buffalo State is scheduled to host Brockport in a doubleheader on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
