BUFFALO, NY-- Buffalo State (15-1/9-0) complete a perfect SUNYAC slate with a 22-11 win at Morrisville State (5-10/1-8) today in the conference regular season finale.
Karen Shaddock (Corning/Corning East) had seven points on two goals and five assists to lead the Bengals.
Mariah DeBolt (Waterloo/Waterloo) scored five goals and an assist, and
Katie Henderson (Hamburg/Frontier) tallied four goals and two assists.
Kendyl Clarkson (Painted Post/Corning West) picked up three goals and two assists.
Marilyn Kush (East Aurora/East Aurora) added two goals and an assist, and
Brittany Nagowski (Lancaster/Lancaster),
Kristen Reilly (Cicero/CNS), Jennifer Tierney (Massapequa/Massapequa),
Kember Greco (Southampton/Southampton),
Kelly Nelson (Hamburg/Frontier) and
Liz Eddy (Albany/Colonie) also scored for Buffalo State.
Henderson became Buffalo State all-time leading scorer by herself. In just three seasons, the junior has amassed 165 points on 148 goals and 17 assists in just 44 games.
The Bengals trailed 3-1 early, but took command after a sluggish start and led 13-8 at halftime. Buffalo State cruised from there, outshooting the Mustangs 34-22 for the game. Ashley O'Brien (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima) made seven saves in the win.
Buffalo State will enter this Friday's SUNYAC semifinals as the host and No. 1 seed and will face No. 4 Geneseo at 12:30 p.m.
