CORTLAND, NY—
Kaylee Lekki (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield) belted an RBI double in the fourth inning to push third-seeded Buffalo State (26-11) past No. 4 Geneseo (19-18), 3-2, in the opening round of the double-elimination SUNYAC Championships today at Cortland.
Nicole Sabuda (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) earned her 12th win of the season, tossing a complete game three-hitter with five strikeouts. Lekki was 1 for 2 with a walk and a run scored.

Geneseo scored a run in the top of the first and another in the top of the second, but Buffalo State answered in each inning, scoring on an error and a passed ball. After

Kaylee Lekki doubled to center two batters later to drive in her sister for what would prove to be the winning run. Sabuda retired the final 14 Geneseo hitters of the game in order to preserve the win.
Buffalo State will next face No. 2 Brockport tomorrow at 11 a.m. The Golden Eagles defeated No. 5 Plattsburgh, 4-2, in their first game earlier today.
