BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (7-3) led wire-to-wire, topping visiting cross-town rival D'Youville (2-10), 61-42, for its sixth straight victory in a non-conference matchup tonight at the Sports Arena.

Dee Layne (Brooklyn/East NY Family Acad.) had a career-high 12 points and added 11 rebounds and four steals to lead the Bengals. Freshman Kristin Ritch (Dobbs Ferry/Dobbs Ferry) scored 13 points, including three 3-pointers.

Melissa Kanalley (Tonawanda/O'Hara) paced the Spartans with 13 points, and Holly Beats (Marilla/Iroquois) had 12 points and 11 boards.

Buffalo State jumped out to a 9-0 lead and took a 29-22 advantage into the intermission. The Bengals pulled away in the second half and held their largest lead of the night when the final buzzer sounded. Buffalo State outscored D'Youville 26-16 in the paint and converted 28 Spartan turnovers into 23 points.

Buffalo State will return to SUNYAC play on Friday at New Paltz.
