FREDONIA, NY— Trevor McKinney (Oakwood, ON/Sinclair) scored at 16:47 of the third period to put Buffalo State (6-13-1/2-9-0) down 4-3 but Fredonia (15-5-0/7-4-0) clinched the 5-3 win with a late empty-net tally.

Each team traded a goal in the first period with Nicholas Petriello (St. Catharines, ON/Holy Cross) scoring for the Bengals. Fredonia followed with a three-goal second period taking a 4-1 lead into the final stanza. 

Buffalo State's attempt at a comeback started in the third period when Drew Klin (Lancaster/Lancaster) scored at 1:19 and McKinney added his tally near the end of the period. Fredonia's clincher came with five seconds remaining in the game to secure the victory.

Buffalo State goaltender Alan Fritch (Saginaw, MI/Heritage) made 32 of 37 saves as the Bengals were outshot 42-32 overall.

The next action for the men's hockey team will be on Feb. 5 as the Bengals will host a 7 p.m. contest against Brockport.
