Women’s Basketball Slips Past Pitt-Bradford, 63-58

BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (4-3) overcame a nine-point halftime deficit to defeat visiting Pitt-Bradford (2-8), 63-58, in a non-conference game tonight at the Sports Arena.

Jessica Clark (Fulton/G. Ray Bodley) led the Bengals with 19 points and five assists. Staci McElroy (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) added 12 points and three steals, and Alyssa Kinney (Bellport/Bellport) scored eight points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

After Buffalo State hit a 3-pointer to open the scoring, the Panthers jumped out to an 18-6 lead and held a 29-20 advantage at the intermission. The Bengals opened the second half with a 9-0 run to even the score. The two teams traded the lead 10 more times in the second half, before Buffalo State finally pulled ahead for good with 1:57 remaining.

The Bengals held a 43-34 rebounding advantage and had 18 second-chance points, compared to just two by the Panthers.

Buffalo State will return to SUNYAC play this Friday with a home matchup against Plattsburgh at 6 p.m.
