BUFFALO, NY—Freshman Staci McElroy's (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) offensive rebound and follow with 7.7 seconds remaining was the difference for Buffalo State (6-3/2-1) in a dramatic 57-56 victory over visiting Potsdam (1-10/0-4) in a SUNYAC contest today at the Sports Arena.

McElroy led Buffalo State with 16 points, all in the second half, and had eight rebounds. Jessica Clark (Fulton/G. Ray Bodley) scored 13 points and added four assists and three steals. Buffalo State was supported by a balanced attack that included 19 points off the bench, helping it to overcome 29 turnovers.

Courtney Poirier (Moira/Bushton-Moira) led Potsdam with a game-high 18 points to accompany five assists and six steals. Brittany Whitton(DeKalb Jct./Herman-DeKalb) added 10 points for the Bears.

After Potsdam took an early lead, Buffalo State regrouped and pushed its lead to as many as eight points before closing the first period ahead by a 27-21 count. The Bengals grew the lead to 10 points midway through the second half, but Potsdam roared back and led 56-52 with 2:24 remaining. The Bengals scored the game's final five points to escape with the win.

Buffalo State will welcome D'Youville to the Sports Arena on Tuesday for a non-conference game at 6 p.m.
