CORTLAND, NY—Buffalo State (0-2/0-2) scored three third-period goals, but could not climb all the way back in a 4-3 loss at Cortland (1-1/1-1) in a SUNYAC game tonight at Alumni Arena.

Cortland blew the game open with a three-goal second period, including a pair on the power play. The Red Dragons pushed it to 4-0 with another power-play goal just 1:12 into the third period. The Bengals stormed back with three power-play goals of their own by Zach Hale (Sandy, UT/Liberty), Mike Zannella (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) and Trevor McKinney (Oakwood, ON/Sinclair), but could not get the equalizer. Hale and McKinney also added an assist each, and Anthony Orange (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield South) had a pair of helpers.

Cortland edged the Bengals in shots, 36-35. Freshman Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) made 32 saves for Buffalo State.

Buffalo State will next play at Fredonia next Friday at 7 p.m.
