POTSDAM, NY— Buffalo State (4-2-1/4-2-1) scored three first period goals en route to a 4-2 victory over host Potsdam (2-5/2-5) in a SUNYAC game tonight at Maxcy Hall Arena.

Nicholas Petriello (St. Catharines, ON/Holy Cross) and Shane Avery (Fort Covington, NY/Salmon River) led the Bengals with a goal and an assist each. Justin Knee (Centralia, ON/South Huron) and Mike Connolly (Shoreham, NY/Sault Area) each added a goal. Trevor McKinney (Oakwood, ON/Sinclair), Mike Zannella (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) and Drew Klin (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) all recorded an assist.

Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) stopped 57 shots for Buffalo State, as Potsdam had a 59-27 advantage in shots on goal.

Knee got the Bengals on the board at 7:42 of the first period and Buffalo State went into the first intermission with a 3-0 lead. The two teams traded goals in the second stanza and Potsdam would add its second power-play marker of the night in the third period to close out all scoring.

Buffalo State returns to action next weekend when it travels to Saratoga Springs for the Skidmore Tournament and a 2 p.m. face-off against the host school.
