BUFFALO, NY—Utica (8-3) went 3 for 3 on the power play and used an early lead to overpower Buffalo State (6-3-2), 4-2, in a non-conference game tonight at the Ice Arena.

Kyle Granville (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) led the Bengals with a goal and an assist. Drew Klin (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) also scored for Buffalo State, while John Corrigan (Wethersfield, CT/Wethersfield) and James Durham (Marilla, NY/St. Francis) each added a helper.

The Pioneers took a 4-0 lead into the second intermission, after scoring one marker in the first period and three power play goals in the second stanza. Buffalo State scored twice in the third period, but the rally fell short.

The Bengals held a slim 33-30 advantage in shots and 0 for 2 with the extra skater, while Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) had 26 saves in the loss.

Buffalo State travels to Hobart for another non-conference game on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
