POTSDAM, NY—Buffalo State (9-10/4-8) turned in its second-highest offensive output of the season, but fell to host Potsdam (6-13/5-7), 79-73, in a SUNYAC contest tonight at Maxcy Hall. After starting the season 1-13, Potsdam has now won five straight games.

Freshman Staci McElroy (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) led Buffalo State with a career-high 24 points and eight rebounds. Kristin Ritch (Dobbs Ferry/Dobbs Ferry) added 12 points and four assists for the Bengals.

Potsdam started the game with a 17-5 run in the first 5:40 building to a 42-32 lead at the break. Buffalo State won the second half 41-37 and began the final frame with an 8-2 run trimming the lead to just four points but the Bears managed to hold on for the victory.

Buffalo State will play at Plattsburgh tomorrow at 2 p.m.
