BUFFALO, NY—
Kendyl Clarkson (Painted Post/Corning West) tallied two goals and four assists to lift Buffalo State (1-0) over visiting RIT (2-1), 10-6, in the Bengals' non-conference season-opener today at Coyer Field.
Karen Shaddock (Corning/Corning East) netted a team-high three goals for Buffalo State.
Molly Seifritz (Syracuse/Henninger) scored twice,
Mariah DeBolt (Waterloo/Waterloo) had a goal and an assist, and
Katie Henderson (Lakeview/Frontier) and freshman
Ashley Caporizzo (Liverpool/CNS) also scored for the Bengals.
Buffalo State never trailed, jumping out to 4-0 lead and was ahead, 7-3, at halftime. RIT pulled to within one goal at 7-6, scoring the first three goals of the second half in a span of 4:06. The Bengals regrouped, however, and pulled away with three more goals in the final 10 minutes to seal the victory.
RIT outshot the Bengals, 23-20, but Ashley O'Brien (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima) made 11 saves in the victory for Buffalo State.
Buffalo State will return to action at Division I Niagara University on Monday at 4 p.m.
