TROY, NY—Buffalo State (3-1) suffered its first defeat of the season despite an eight-point effort from Kendyl Clarkson (Painted Post/Corning West), falling 20-13 against nationally No. 13-ranked Tufts (2-2) in a neutral-site non-conference contest today at RPI's Renwyck Field.

Clarkson scored twice and dished out six assists, and Karen Shaddock (Corning/Corning East) had four goals and two assists to lead Buffalo State's offensive efforts. Molly Seifritz (Syracuse/Henninger) added three goals, Brittany Nagowski (Lancaster/Lancaster) scored twice, and Katie Henderson (Lakeview/Frontier) and Ashley Caporizzo (Liverpool/CNS) had a goal apiece for the Bengals.

Tufts tallied the final three goals of the opening period to take a 12-7 lead into intermission. Buffalo State roared back into the game with a 4-0 in the first 10 minutes of the second half to cut the deficit to just one goal. The Jumbos netted the next two goals, however, and eight of the final 10 goals of the game to pull away for the victory. Tufts outshot the Bengals, 43-22, and just seven turnovers, compared to 21 by Buffalo State. Ashley O'Brien (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima) made 10 saves between the pipes for the Bengals.

Buffalo State will next face No. 10 Middlebury at RPI again on Friday at 12:30 p.m.
