BUFFALO, NY—Despite being out-hit 19-11, Buffalo State (13-11) used some heady play and an untimely gaff to complete a sweep of visiting Allegheny (8-13), 3-2 and 6-5 in 11 innings, in a non-conference doubleheader today at Bengal Field.

Buffalo State converted just three hits into three runs in the opener. The Bengals scored twice in the sixth to tie the game and then plated the winner in the bottom of the seventh on a bases loaded walk-off single by Kyrstin Lekki (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield). Sara Morse (Painted Post/Corning West) and Niki Rieman (Derby/Lakeshore) also had RBI singles for the Bengals. Rieman started the game in the circle, allowing seven hits and two runs. Jenna Frieling (E. Amherst/Williamsville North) earned the win, throwing one inning of one-hit scoreless relief.

Buffalo State appeared to lose the nightcap on a third-out strikeout in the bottom of the 10th inning. The catcher dropped the third strike however, and Allegheny rolled the ball toward the center of the infield and began its celebration. After Buffalo State's runners had originally began to leave the field, they returned to touch home and first respectively. The batter was ruled safe at first, and Lindsay Goff's (Brewster/Patterson) run counted to even the score at 5-5. Buffalo State then won the game in the bottom of the 11th on an RBI single by Sam Strapason (Williamsville/Williamsville South), who finished 2 for 6 in the game. Kyrstin Lekki was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, and twin sister Kaylee Lekki (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield) was 2 for 3 with a walk and a run scored. Tricia Kennery (Williamsville/Williamsville North) earned the win, throwing six innings of relief, giving up four hits and one unearned run with five strikeouts. Erin Kowalske (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) started the game and had a no-decision, throwing five innings, allowing eight hits and four runs (one earned).

Buffalo State will play another non-conference doubleheader tomorrow at the University of Rochester.
