BUFFALO, NY—The No.8-ranked team in the country Cortland (25-5/10-0) shutout host Buffalo State (13-15/4-6) in a pair of rain-soaked SUNYAC games today at Bengal Field, 2-0 and 9-0 in five innings.

It took three hours and 41 minutes, but Cortland disposed of Buffalo State, 2-0, in the opening game, riding the arm of Katie Finch, who tossed a perfect game with 11 strikeouts. Jenna Frieling (E. Amherst/Williamsville North) was saddled with the hard luck loss for the Bengals, scattering seven hits with two strikeouts, stranding seven Red Dragon base runners. The game was suspended due to rain for two hours and 20 minutes in the top of the fourth inning.

Kaylee Lekki (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield) had two of the Bengals' four hits in the late game, going 2 for 2. Krista Baker (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) and Julie Joyce (E. Pembroke/Pembroke) also added singles for Buffalo State. Tricia Kennery (Williamsville/Williamsville North) took the loss, allowing nine hits and nine runs (six earned) in four innings. Niki Rieman (Derby/Lakeshore) threw the final inning of no-hit relief.

Buffalo State is scheduled to host another pair of conference games tomorrow against Oswego.
