BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (15-15/6-6) turned 21 hits into 15 runs in a sweep of visiting Oswego (3-21/0-10), winning 9-0 in five innings and 6-0, in a SUNYAC doubleheader today at Bengal Field.
Buffalo State belted out 11 hits in just four offensive innings in the opener, led by
Kyrstin Lekki (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield) who was 3 for 3 with a double and four RBIs, and
Breanna Fenski (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) who was 3 for 3 with a double and two runs scored.
Sara Morse (Painted Post/Corning West) had an RBI double and two runs, and
Krista Baker (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) was 1 for 3 with two RBIs and three runs scored.
Niki Rieman (Derby/Lakeshore) earned her first win as a Bengal, throwing 2 2/3 innings of no-hit relief.
Jenna Frieling (E. Amherst/Williamsville North) gave up six hits in 2 1/3 innings in the start.
The Bengals continued to roll in the second game, jumping out to a 3-0 lead after two innings, and pulled away to complete the sweep. Fenski led Buffalo State's bats, going 3 for 4 with three RBIs.
Laken Pogorzelski (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, and
Julie Joyce (E. Pembroke/Pembroke) went 2 for 2 with an RBI and a run scored.
Tricia Kennery (Williamsville/Williamsville North) tossed a six-hit, complete game shutout with seven strikeouts and one walk.
Buffalo State will visit Oneonta for another SUNYAC twin bill next Friday at 3 p.m.
