BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (9-4/5-1) jumped all over visiting Potsdam (5-9/1-5) early and cruised to a 17-8 win in a SUNYAC game this afternoon at Coyer Field, on a day when sophomore
Karen Shaddock (Corning/Corning East) eclipsed another milestone.
Shaddock led the Bengals with six goals and four assists, becoming the first-ever Bengal with 100 career assists.
Mariah DeBolt (Waterloo/Waterloo) and
Molly Seifritz (Syracuse/Henninger) netted three goals apiece, and
Ashley Caporizzo (Liverpool/CNS) had two goals and an assist.
Brittany Nagowski (Lancaster/Lancaster) added a goal and an assist,
Jen Tierney (Massapequa/Massapequa) and
Caitlin Butler (E. Amherst/Williamsville North) also scored, and
Kendyl Clarkson (Painted Post/Corning West) served up five assists.
The Bengals raced out to a 5-0 advantage and led by as many as 11 in the second half en route to the victory. The Bengals controlled the ground game with a 20-14 edge in ground balls, and outshot the Bears, 27-24. Ashley O'Brien (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima) allowed four goals and had six saves in 45 minutes of work for the win between the pipes.
A trip to Brockport next Friday for another SUNYAC game is on deck for Buffalo State.
