BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (19-17) used late-inning runs in both games to sweep a doubleheader from visiting Nazareth (12-20), 2-1 and 4-2, in a non-conference set today at Bengal Field.

Buffalo State used a pair of two-out hits in the bottom of the seventh inning in the opener to escape with a 2-1 victory. After Sam Strapason's (Williamsville/Williamsville South) RBI double tied the game, Niki Rieman (Derby/Lakeshore) hit a walk-off RBI single up the middle to end the game. Rieman was 3 for 3 in the game and also earned the win in the circle, allowing just four hits with four strikeouts. Strapason was 2 for 3, as she and Rieman accounted for the team's only hits in the game.

In the nightcap, Kyrstin Lekki (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield) broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run homer in the sixth inning and the Bengals added another to take a three-run lead into the final frame. Nazareth plated a run in the seventh and then loaded the bases, but the Bengals got out of the jam with a game-ending strikeout. Breanna Fenski (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) was 2 for 3 with a double and two runs scored, and Julie Joyce (E. Pembroke/Pembroke) had an RBI single. Erin Kowalske (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) earned her first collegiate win, throwing six-plus innings, allowing just six hits and one earned run. Tricia Kennery (Williamsville/Williamsville North) picked up the save getting the game's final three outs.

Buffalo State will wrap up the SUNYAC regular season on Friday with a home doubleheader against Fredonia.
