BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (20-18/9-9) avenged a 6-3 loss against Fredonia (15-20/6-12) in the opener with a 7-0 drubbing of the Blue Devils in the nightcap in the SUNYAC regular season finale today at Bengal Field.

Both teams traded runs in the early going of the first game before Fredonia blew it open with a four-run fourth inning. The Bengals plated a pair in the sixth to close the gap, but the Blue Devils added an insurance run and retired the side in order in the seventh for the win. Jenna Frieling (E. Amherst/Williamsville North) suffered the loss, giving up six hits and four earned runs in four innings of work. Lindsay Goff (Patterson/Brewster) led the Bengal bats, going 2 for 3 with an RBI. Sam Strapason (Williamsville/Williamsville South) and Breanna Fenski (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) each added RBI singles for the Bengals.

Tricia Kennery (Williamsville/Williamsville North) was in command of the late game, tossing a complete game two-hit shutout with five strikeouts for Buffalo State. Goff continued to swing the hot bat, belting a two-run home run. Strapason was 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs, and Krista Baker (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) and Julie Joyce (E. Pembroke/Pembroke) each were 2 for 3 for the Bengals.

Buffalo State will play a non-conference twin bill at Ithaca on Sunday.
