BUFFALO, NY— Fredonia (10-10/5-6) exploded for four goals in the first period and held on for a 6-4 victory over host Buffalo State (8-9-3/4-4-3) tonight in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Ice Arena.

Ben Waldman led Fredonia with a pair of goals. Alex Morton had a goal and two assists, and Billy Sanborn, Brad Nunn and Andrew Christ each added a goal and an assist for the Blue Devils.

Nicholas Petriello (St. Catharines, ON/Holy Cross) paced Buffalo State with a goal and two assists. Mike Connolly (Shoreham, NY/Sault Area) and Mike Zannella (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) had a goal and an assist apiece, and Drew Klin (Lancaster/Lancaster) also scored.

Fredonia scored a pair of early goals just 15 seconds apart, and led 4-1 after the first period. The Blue Devils pushed the lead to 5-1 in the opening minutes of the second stanza, before the Bengals roared back with three power-play goals in under five minutes to cut the deficit to 5-4 entering the final period. Fredonia iced the game however, with a power-play goal with 1:44 remaining in the game.

The Blue Devils were 4 of 10 on the power play, while the Bengals were 3 of 7. Fredonia outshot Buffalo State, 32-21.

Buffalo State will next play at Brockport next Friday at 7 p.m.
