BUFFALO, NY—No. 9-ranked Adrian (10-3) scored five third-period goals to overcome a three-goal deficit and skate away with a 7-5 victory over host Buffalo State (6-6-2) in a non-conference game tonight at the Ice Arena.

Trevor McKinney (Oakwood, ON/Sinclair) scored twice for Buffalo State, and Mike Zannella (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) and Nicholas Petriello (St. Catharines, ON/Holy Cross) had a goal and two assists each. Drew Klin (Lancaster/Lancaster) also scored, and Justin Knee (Centralia, ON/South Huron) had two assists.

Buffalo State led 2-0 after the opening period before Adrian got on the board just 17 seconds into the second period with a 5-on-3 strike. The Bulldogs tied the game midway through the second, but the Bengals reclaimed the lead just eight seconds later and then scored again 22 seconds after that to push the advantage to 4-2. Goals came in a bunch again early in the third as Buffalo State extended its lead at the 1:40 mark, but Adrian bounced back nine seconds later, and cut the deficit to one less than a minute after that. The Bulldogs then capitalized on a pair of costly Bengal turnovers in their own zone to even the score with just under five minutes to play, and take their first lead with 2:48 remaining. Adrian sealed the victory with an empty-netter in the closing seconds.

Adrian held a 42-30 advantage in shots and was 1 for 5 on the power play, compared to Buffalo State who was 1 for 7.

Buffalo State will host another nationally-ranked opponent on Tuesday when No. 15 Hobart visits the Ice Arena at 7 p.m.
