GENESEO, NY—No. 12-ranked Geneseo (1-0) tied the game with one second remaining and then netted the game-winner just 17 seconds into overtime to stun visiting Buffalo State (1-0) in a 4-3 victory tonight in the season-opener at the Ira Wilson Arena.

The Knights opened the scoring just 1:18 into the game, but Dave Lansdowne (Toronto, ON/Leaside) evened the score at 1-1 for Buffalo State just under four minutes later with an unassisted tally.  Drew Klin (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) netted a power-play marker for the only goal of the second period to give the Bengals a 2-1 advantage heading into the final frame. 

James Durham (Marilla, NY/St. Francis) gave Buffalo State a 3-1 lead with less than 11 minutes remaining, but Geneseo would storm back.  The Knights netted a power-play goal with 6:20 remaining to cut the deficit to one, and then evened that score with just one tick remaining on the clock.  Geneseo then ended the game on the first shot of the overtime period.

Both teams traded 29 shots in the game.  The Bengals finished 1 for 2 on the power play, and Geneseo was 1 for 5.  Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) made 25 stops for Buffalo State, but surrendered three goals on the final four shots he faced.

Buffalo State will visit Brockport tomorrow for another SUNYAC game at 7 p.m.
