BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (4-2/4-2) scored five goals in an eight-minute span in the third period to break open the game as the Bengals blanked Cortland (2-3/3-3), 8-0, in a SUNYAC match-up tonight at the Ice Arena. 

Trevor McKinney (Oakwood, ON/Sinclair), Dave Lansdowne (Toronto, ON/Leaside) and James Durham (Marilla, NY/St. Francis) each scored twice.  Steve Wicklum (Charlotte, NC/LCCVI) and Taylor McGraw (North Lawrence, NY/St. Lawrence) added a goal apiece.  John Corrigan (Wethersfield, CT/Wethersfield) and Nick Melligan (Sanborn, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) each chipped in two helpers, while six other Bengals recorded one assist.

Buffalo State took the early lead when Wicklum recorded the first goal of his collegiate career just 1:57 into the game.  The Bengals would score two more in the first period to take a 3-0 lead into intermission.  After a scoreless second stanza, Buffalo State scored on five of its 13 shots in the third period, overpowering Cortland. 

The Bengals were 2 of 4 on the power play and peppered the Red Dragon goaltenders with 41 shots, while Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) made 28 saves to earn his first shutout of the season.

Buffalo State will host No. 2 Oswego tomorrow at 7 p.m.
