Box Score NEW PALTZ, NY— Buffalo State (5-1/1-1) used an 11-0 run in the closing minutes to pull away for a 70-59 victory over host New Paltz (2-5/1-1) in a SUNYAC game this afternoon at the Hawk Center.  The loss snapped a 14-game home winning streak for the Hawks.

Bianca Smiley (Amherst/Sweet Home) led Buffalo State with 16 points and 13 rebounds, and freshman Hillary Kollar (Johnstown/Johnstown) also had a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards.  Staci McElroy (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) added 16 points and seven boards, and Barb Kiliszek (Depew/Lancaster) had 12 points and six steals.

Buffalo State led most of the way and was up 37-23 at halftime.  The Bengals pushed the lead to as many as 19 early in the second half, before the Hawks stormed back and cut the deficit to just two at 58-56 with 3:44 remaining.  Buffalo State responded, however, assembling an 11-0 run over the 2:20 to put the game out of reach.

The Bengals hit just 30-percent of their shots from the field, but outscored New Paltz, 33-15 at the free throw line.  Buffalo State hit 33 for 48 attempts from the charity stripe.

Buffalo State will return home to host Cortland in another conference game next Friday at 6 p.m.
