BUFFALO, NY—Third-seeded Buffalo State will host No. 6 Fredonia in a SUNYAC Quarterfinal matchup on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Ice Arena.

Buffalo State won its last three and four of its final five games to secure the third seed in the SUNYAC playoffs, the best regular season standing in school history. The Bengals are 12-10-3 overall, and have tied a school record for wins in a season. Fredonia finished sixth in the conference at 7-8-1 and is 12-12-1 overall.

Buffalo State is 5-44-3 all-time against the Blue Devils, with each team winning on the opposition's ice this season. Buffalo State claimed a 2-1 overtime victory in Fredonia in November, and Fredonia won 6-4 win in Buffalo in January.

Senior Nicholas Petriello (St. Catharines, ON/Holy Cross) leads the Bengals with 30 points (nine goals and 21 assists) in 24 games, and became the school's all time leading scorer with 133 career points, including 52 goals and 81 assists. Sophomore Trevor McKinney (Oakwood, ON/Sinclair) has a team-best 17 goals and is second on the team with 26 points. Freshman Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) has been the backbone for the Bengals' between the pipes. He has played every game but one, and has posted a .922 save percentage, a 2.64 GAA, and three shutouts. He has also tied a school record for wins in a season with 11.

Buffalo State is making its sixth SUNYAC playoff appearance overall and fifth in the last six seasons. The Bengals have never advanced to the semifinals, with their lone playoff win coming in 2002 at Cortland. The playoffs followed a two-game series plus mini-game format back then, however, and Cortland bounced back to win the series and advance. The Bengals only previous home playoff game was in 2007 when Fredonia earned a 2-1 double-overtime victory. The Bengals and Blue Devils also met in 2008 with Fredonia skating to a 4-2 win at home.

Tickets will be available at the door beginning at 6 p.m. Adults are $5, and student tickets are $2. The first 500 Buffalo State students with ID will be admitted for free.
