BUFFALO, NY— Buffalo State (11-8/6-7) forced 23 Oneonta (15-5/9-4) turnovers and clawed its way to a 57-49 victory in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Sports Arena.

Staci McElroy (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) led Buffalo State with 23 points and added eight rebounds. Barb Kiliszek (Depew/Lancaster) netted 17 points and had six boards and seven steals, and Dee Layne (Brooklyn/E. NY Family) chipped in nine rebounds and five steals.

Oneonta claimed a 26-21 advantage after the opening 20 minutes, but Buffalo State used a 13-1 run midway through the second half to take a lead it would not relinquish. The Bengals hit 7 of 8 free throws in the final 1:01 to keep the Red Dragons at bay. Buffalo State shot just 32-percent from the field and was 2 of 13 from 3-point range, but had a plus-11 turnover margin.

Buffalo State will next host New Paltz tomorrow at 2 p.m.
