Barb Kiliszek (Depew/Lancaster) netted a career-high 28 points to lift Buffalo State (12-8/7-7) to its second upset win in as many days, defeating visiting New Paltz (12-8/10-3), 73-59, in a SUNYAC game this afternoon at the Sports Arena.
Staci McElroy (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) added 12 points and five steals for the Bengals, and
Dee Layne (Brooklyn/E. NY Family) had 10 points and eight rebounds.
Sarah Thompson (Delmar/Bethlehem) chipped in eight points and five boards off the bench.
Buffalo State forced 27 New Paltz turnovers and took advantage of 27 fouls on the Hawks, scoring 30 points from the free-throw line. The Bengals led by as many as 13 in the first half, but New Paltz scored the final six points of the opening frame to trail 32-26 at the break. The Hawks cut the deficit to 45-41 midway through the second period, but the Bengals mounted a 12-2 run from there and took control of the game.
Buffalo State will travel to Fredonia next Friday for a 6 p.m. conference matchup.
