CLERMONT, Fla.—Buffalo State (2-2) broke even for the second-straight day to open its spring trip at the National Training Center today, crushing Southern Maine (2-9), 12-2, in six innings, before falling 10-0 in five innings against No. 13 Wisconsin-Whitewater (9-2).

Buffalo State continued to swing the hot bats in the opening game against Southern Maine, converting 17 hits into 12 runs. Sam Strapason (Williamsville/Williamsville North) led the charge, going 4 for 4 with a double, a triple and four RBIs. Breanna Fenski (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) and Lindsay Goff (Patterson/Brewster) added three hits each, and Julie Joyce (E. Pembroke/Pembroke) had a triple and a pair of RBIs. Krista Baker (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) and Sara Morse (Painted Post/Corning West) chipped in a pair of hits each, and Sam Tilkins (Grand Island/Grand Island) improved to 2-0 in the circle, allowing six hits and striking out four.

The nationally-rankedWarhawks cooled the Bengals' offense in the late game, limiting Buffalo State to just four hits. At the plate, Whitewater turned 13 hits into 10 runs. Aleesha Williams (Cheektowaga/Pioneer) took the loss, allowing 11 hits and eight earned runs in four innings.

Buffalo State will next face Williams tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. and the University of Chicago at 11:30 a.m.
