FREDONIA, NY—
Ashley O'Brien (Penfield/Honeoye Falls-Lima) made 11 saves and Buffalo State (8-4/3-1) scored four straight goals to close the first half and open the second to secure an 8-6 victory over host Fredonia (9-3/2-2) in a SUNYAC game today.
Karen Shaddock (Corning/Corning East),
Molly Seifritz (Syracuse/Henninger) and
Mariah DeBolt (Waterloo/Waterloo) all scored twice, and
Kendyl Clarkson (Painted Post/Corning West) had a goal and three assists for the Bengals.
Ashley Caporizzo (Liverpool/CNS) also scored for Buffalo State.
Fredonia held three separate one-goal leads in the opening half, but Buffalo State scored the final goal of the opening period, and then netted the first three of the second stanza and did not look back. The Bengals reclaimed the three-goal advantage at 8-5 with less than five minutes remaining, before the Blue Devils completed the scoring with 1:52 remaining.
Fredonia outshot Buffalo State, 23-19.
Buffalo State returns to action next Tuesday at Geneseo at 4 p.m.
